Bringing Reality to Life Through the “Every 15 Minutes” Program
Camarena Health continued its partnership this year with the impactful Every 15 Minutes program, helping local high school students see the real-life consequences of impaired driving. Led by the California Highway Patrol, the program uses a powerful simulation to demonstrate how quickly lives can change when alcohol or drugs are involved in a crash. As part of the experience, Camarena Health serves as the receiving medical facility where injured students are transported, allowing our providers and staff to recreate the emergency medical response and show the serious realities that follow a traumatic accident.
Madera High School
Students at Madera High School took part in the powerful two-day program, witnessing firsthand how a single decision can impact countless lives. After the staged crash, injured students were transported to Camarena Health where our medical team recreated the emergency care that follows a serious accident. Through this realistic experience, students were able to see the medical response, the urgency of trauma care, and the emotional weight these situations carry for families and healthcare providers alike.
Yosemite High School
This year also marked the first time Camarena Health partnered with Yosemite High School in Oakhurst as part of the Every 15 Minutes program. While the school has hosted the program in the past, this was the first year our team joined the effort in the mountain community. Students witnessed the medical side of the simulation and the reality of what happens after a serious crash—an experience designed to encourage thoughtful decisions and safer choices behind the wheel.
